Physical Constitution
Together with you we practise snow sports. Our body is in the foreground. Naturally we do not expect everyone to be a model athlete or dispose of particular conditional skills. A good assessment of the individual’s physical limits is part of our professional competence. However what we do not know is who has which physical limitations. We would like to address injuries, recent operations and hospital stays, medication, artificial joints, pacemakers, asthma etc. Please absolutely make sure you inform your instructor before the beginning of the course of your special physical condition, so he can do this circumstance justice and enable an informative but also happy day! Of course we treat your personal information discreetly and confidentially!
Helmets and Protection
Until today wearing a helmet is mandatory on our slopes. Unfortunately the number of severe accidents on the ski slopes has increased. Nando Pajarola, Head of Rescue of Mountain Transport Davos Klosters can confirm this. Through constantly improved ski and snowboard material, altered behaviour on the slopes (carving-technique requires more space and longer phases, in which the carver traverses across the piste) and optimised piste conditions not more but more severe accidents occur. Therefore we recommend that you and especially your children wear a hard helmet. As a matter of fact there is meanwhile a great choice of further protectors in the sport shops. This includes back protectors, crash pants, wrist protection and also knee and shin protectors (especially in the racing discipline). These protective elements are still mandatory, but surely they are sensible and increase your personal safety. Inform yourself thoroughly and get advice before purchase from a professional sports salesperson.
Attention: The risk of accident and injury persists also when well protected - as in all sports disciplines!
Prevention
By provident action and according reaction (also called: anticipation) as well as heightened awareness you can personally make sure that a snow sport day ends with a cosy après-ski and not with a stay in the hospital. This kind of behaviour will also be learnt and trained in our snow sport courses. Particularly in our children’s courses we make sure that safe behaviour is automised and the FIS-Rules are familiar.
